I had a lot of fun playing Paul Willson’s Songwriter Showcase at The Camel last night. Thanks to everyone who came out, I appreciate seeing y’all! And thanks for the great picture Amy, it turned out pretty cool!
On June 30th last year, 19 men from the Granite Mountain Hotshot wildfire crew died while fighting the Yarnell Hill fire. While the news is often full of stories of violence and tragedy, rarely do we hear stories of courage, sacrifice and commitment. I thought it was important that their story be told and not forgotten and I hope this song that I’ve written can contribute in some small way to keeping their memory alive. Here is the song, Yarnell Hill.
I’m going to be playing a couple of sets over at Northern Neck Burger Co. this Saturday, April 12, from 7 to 9 or so. If folks are still there and the tip jar ain’t full I might just keep picking till they close at ten. Regardless, it’ll be a fun time and a great way to spend a Saturday evening!
